By W. Calvin Anderson

Over forty families from Brooklyn and across the nation last week joined the Women’s Caucus of the 10th Congressional District chaired by Vivian Bright to revisit Puerto Rico with senior Congressman Ed Towns and lovely wife (Gwen). The 20-year old caucus once again went to Puerto Rico at its own expense paid for by each attending family. What made this year unusual is their celebration and reflections on the landmark Healthcare legislation and the opportunity to listen first-hand to the US citizenry representing island-households in the historic American contiguous state.

Secretary of State, Kenneth D. Mc Clintock-Hernandez offered the Brooklyn-based fellow citizens historic insights about the island and celebratory and informative healthcare issues that aligned with Ed Towns’ view that, “the landmark bill on Healthcare is a work-in-progress’ like other historic American legislation”. The group enjoys this week family-oriented amenities, sight-seeing tours, time with the Hon. Ed Towns and Easter prayers. Congressman Edolphus Towns, ever the legislative public awareness educator, is also the chair of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee.
